Woodland Train Depot Museum

Come explore the 1911 Woodland Train Depot during our First Saturday Open Houses! Tour the historic depot, talk with knowledgeable docents, and step inside restored railroad equipment including a 1918 locomotive and a 1943 caboose.

Bring your curiosity, ask questions, and experience a piece of Woodland’s railroad history up close.

Historic Woodland Train Depot

Visitors can learn about early railroad travel, telegraph communication, single-track train operations, local history, and ongoing restoration work. New exhibits and improvements are continuing to take shape, so there is always something new to discover! Think about holding an event at the Depot, meetings, fundraisers, birthday parties and more.

What’s Happening

Latest Restoration

After a generous donation from Stroll Through History in Woodland, work began to restore an early 20th century Southern Pacific Hide-Side baggage wagon. All but one piece of wood was replaced while all metal parts and wheels were maintained. After nearly two years, the cart is finished. The cart was donated in 2013 by a Galt resident and it is believed to have been used somewhere in the Sacramento Valley.
